We’d love for you to join our family on December 20, 2025 at 8:30 p.m. for a special showing of the movie David at Cinemark Century East (Dawley Farms).

This tradition began on December 20, 2023, when Spencer and the entire Brandon Valley 7th grade enjoyed a private showing of Wonka together—Spencer’s last outing with his classmates before he passed on January 8, 2024.

Last year, December 20, 2024, our community came together again for a group showing of The Lion King in his memory.

We are honored to announce our third annual Dec. 20 movie event, a night to gather, remember, and celebrate Spencer’s life and the joy he brought to so many.

If you’d like to attend, you can purchase tickets directly through Cinemark using the link below—we’d love to fill the theater with those who knew Spencer or who simply want to share in this tradition with us.

We will have a small memory table in the lobby and a donation bucket for anyone who feels led to support This Is The Way Foundation, but above all, this evening is about being together.

Exciting Announcement from This Is The Way Foundation!

We’re thrilled to share that we’ve partnered with the Sioux Falls Stampede for their Star Wars Night on December 27th!

This event means so much to us. Spencer was a huge Mandalorian fan, making this the perfect way to honor his memory and continue his legacy of helping others.

What to Expect:

• Stampede players will take the ice in custom Star Wars–themed jerseys.
• These special jerseys will be auctioned off, with proceeds supporting the foundation.
• Our ticket link is live now, and the foundation receives $5 for every ticket purchased through it.

January 3 is Spencer Thorsland Day, Spencer’s birthday and a day officially declared by Mayor Harry Buck to honor his bravery, generosity, and impact on our community.

We’re inviting businesses to offer Spencer Specials on Jan. 3—anything from a portion of sales to a featured menu item—to support This Is The Way Foundation.
